A week or so ago I decided to begin the journey of making a tandem book of Emipre of Storms and Tower of Dawn. If you are un aware, these are 2 books in Sarah j Mass' Throne of Glass series that take place at the same time across both books, the tandem read is reading both books together so you can read everything in cronological order.
This is a table of the reading order for the book, so to make this book I have to take apart the book and re arange all of the pages BY HAND! This was a process that took hours and hours, and my hands are still traumatised.
I also had to get around the fact that some pages had another chapter on the other side of the page that I didnt need, it would ruin the whole book and the point of reading everything in order. So I had to print, cut and scan at least 40 pages and inster them into the book. My canva uplodas file now looks like this:
AND I also had to do it on a paper that is the same-ish colour and texture, which is probly the part I stuggled with the most. This is the result of having a printed page next to a original page:
This was as close as I could of gotten it 😭 It's defintly not the worst example of paper matching I've seen so I'm not dissapointed, just a perfectionist.
Long story short... I actually enjoyed this process. Dispite it taking about 15 hours total of labour and cutting, gluing, cutting, more gluing and scanning I actually love the outcome so much. I have never read the Throne of Glass series myself but I have had alot of people ask if I can make them a tandem book for this particular series and I'm glad I finally took on the prohect.
Going forward I think I will make this a pre order product as I loved making them so much.
